We Honor the Memory of Those Who Fought on D-Day

by Jun 7, 2013

Yesterday was the 69th anniversary of D-Day, the planned invasion of Nazi-occupied Normandy. Around 160,000 Allied troops, 5,000 ships and 13,000 aircrafts, landed on the heavily-fortified French beach to eventually gain a foothold by the end of June 6th, 1944. It was invasion in which then General Dwight D. Eisenhower said “we will accept nothing less than full victory.” The invasion of Normandy gave Allied forces the first push they needed to eventually get to Hitler. Many of the veterans who fought on that fateful day in 1944 are no longer with us, very few WWII veterans remain. But we honor the memory of those who fought valiantly on that day in June.
